How Much Do You Earn A Month With Ad Groups?

I'm hoping webmasters here will share their earnings so we can compare. Secrecy keeps up blind to what these networks are really up to. Do include your pageviews and fillrate.

Sad indeed. Are those numbers just for one website? Three million page views is incredible.

I used to use Adgroups in 2006 and Early 2007. They are one of the worst black companies ever. If you dont have deals like Concreteloop or Eurweb and one other site has you make no money. Having 3million impressions and less then 1,000 is awful! I got out when I did will never look back!

They are the only Black company.

Not sure about Eurweb but Concrete Loop is huge. If you don't have their traffic and most of all their page views then you shouldn't expect to make their kind of money

Can't argue with you there.

Hello,

I work at AdGroups. One of our founders sent our a letter about this website this month. My name is Rinzo Williams and I run publisher relations at the company. This is a great forum to discuss ideas about how to make money and share personal experiences.

To June: 2 months of working with us and its one of the worst black companies ever? Thats pretty insulting .... and looking at your other post its obvious that you're here to disparage our name given your comment in a completely different forum to jab at us.

One thing you need to remember (all of you) is that not all sites are created equal and 1 impression one on site does not equate to the coast of an impression on another site. There are a lot of variables at play....mainly quality/nature of content, audience, and audience interaction

Please note...this is sound advice for making money with any ad network and even PPC services like google.

Quality of Content: Sites that have more varied content besides just entertainment bring in varied audiences and will make more (topics like general entertainment, rumor mill, and hip hop are over-done....not saying that there isn't room for more but you have to come out extremely niche to make money in that area)

Audience: Connected closely to content...specialized audiences (parents, the affluent, college students, car enthusiasts, men etc) tend to do better since they are harder to reach (this is basic knowledge that can be said for anything). For instance a site like BlackAmericaWeb should be able to charge a super premium because they do really well with reaching African Americans over the age of 40 who are more likely to have more money and would be looking for services such as luxury cars, life insurance, and retirement properties -- these same advertisers wouldnt have a keen interest in placing these same ads on a site that only focuses on hip hop gossip...think about it. Scale can drive prices down...so the more hip hop, music, and gossip sites there are - the more leverage that advertisers have to drive rates down

Audience Interaction: Many networks and publishers will optimize ads along a number of levels for their clients - interaction whether its a roll-over, click, expansion, time watching, video play or anything of the sort is an indication of interest. Some performance driven campaigns (with any network) can trim ads from websites that have low interaction rates. Many social networks for example are really great for driving impressions but not good for member interaction....so even if you were directly selling ads to the same advertiser - they could end up canceling their campaign early if they see the same results that our systems optimize for.

We've seen sites with very niche content have eCPMs of well over $75 dollars with google because of their niche content while others complain about an eCPM of less than a dime. Why? by chance? no.... It's nothing that any of us are doing to smite you or showing favoritism -- its all about the niche content

To end: Experiences will and do vary with every company out there (i had a horrible cold burger from my fav hangout but I know that they make good food...but someone that may have had that experience upfront could go out and tell the world how horrible their experience was without saying they've only been once or haven't tried other things on the menu) --

I would ask that you and everyone refrain from bashing and lets talk about the real business issues at hand (not a snowball post of someone that made less than what they expected in a given month because its simply not fair) -- we have some incredibly seasoned staff at our company that can share some great things in this forum (people that have worked at major ad agencies and top 500 publishers). If your experience was not as expected....I'm sorry to hear that but it happens for the reasons above. There are no favorites towards one company or another but I must emphasize yet again that all websites are not equal in the areas above

This forum is already falling into the deadly stereotypical trap where black companies don't work together and would rather fight and squabble to make themselves feel better at the expense of others.

AdGroups was started as a labor of love. We're black owned, operated, and controlled and have been around 10+ years. We have over 450 sites in our network and 100 of which are directly represented sites...well over half of those sites are earning what would be considered a nice salary for any individual. We've helped dozens of black companies grow from complete mediocrity to large earners in our consulting program (which is 100% free). We give to charitable organizations that benefit inner-city causes and we're working on a scholarship program for black college students interested in careers in digital marketing.

Experiences will vary for everyone at every company and its mainly due to the reasons above

Again, I think that this is a great forum to discuss ideas about how to make money and share personal experiences

ADGROUPS HUH

Look,

The People who sent me an email to join blackadtalk.com wants us to tell the truth. I am being real it is no excuse for low earnings. All sites are not created equal however when we took our impressions else were we earn over 85 percent more is an issue. I used to complained to the owner alot and he used to give me the run around. They take your quantcast ratings and make it bigger for their quantcast rating.

Check this out! When I got into another Black Network (Think hard you guys) The owner was livid!

He asked why are those codes above the fold and ours are not! Then I check my first month with this company and the earnings was a couple thousands dollars to their little 849.00. I was able to launched my business full time.

Now I have 3 Top Tier networks (1 Black and 2 TOP Tier White Mainstream Companies with side sales) and operate full time with staff of 2 and would not even look back! So don't say we don't have traffic it just Concreteloop and Eurweb have deals with them! The owner even said that they were obligated to get those 2 sites any new ad sales and everyone else got tons of non worth remamant traffic.

. P.S. We currently have more traffic then Eurweb so that wasn't it you guys. So they just mad that someone is telling the dang truth! Cheap People!

I got more horror stories if anyone is interested...

1) We don't use quantcast to report our network traffic although we have sampled their services with a few sites...like 3-4 out of nearly 500 (So you're WRONG THERE)

2) We have a specialized technology to detect if ads are below the fold. If you place ads below the fold -- our systems will migrate more premium ads away from your site automatically

3) Our owner has never been 'livid' towards anyone -- so thats incredibly comical that you say that

You're obviously very disgruntled and we're sorry to see your line of bashing in a public forum and sorry to hear about your experience with our services in the past.

It's great to hear that you found a service that worked out better for you We service 100s of websites (and even come to the rescue of many black targeted sites and networks when their fill rates are low). Not sure who you are but we've greatly improved our fill rate and our CPMs are sliding up for the bulk of our publishers with active audiences as well. At any rate -- unlike you for us...we do realize that situations and experiences can vary for people and are sorry that you had a bad experience again. If anyone wants to hear about us first-hand feel free to call us anytime for a chat with any of our employees.

Best of luck with your company

Why do you not monitor individual publishers earnings then contact them if you see them falling off the cliff?

I take back everything I said about this company last year. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this company is a sham. For the last 9 months or so I have been paid every other month and routinely get lied to when I ask why my payments are late or why I am basically on schedule to be paid six times a year rather than twelve. At first I thought it was just me but with a bit of digging I discovered hordes of publishers being given lame excuses as to why their payments are routinely late or often do not show up at all. I personally have not been paid in nearly three months even though I keep being told the payment has been sent out.

Adgroups.com is a ripoff and doesn't pay it's publishers.

(Repost for this string)
Its crazy how you guys try to rip on companies when a call to customer support in any situation will usually rectify things (and even in the case of AdGroups they give everyone a direct beeline to all senior executives at the company including the CEO). We too have been seeing later than expected payments but nothing earth shattering from all of our ad networks (delays about 1-3 weeks). I know they (adgroups) are migrating away from paypal because of issues with that system. We're on direct deposit with them now (as of last month) and payments come within 2 days of the strike date of payment.

Have i been a little under angst for later than expected payments -- sure sometimes
Has a call rectified things -- yes i got full disclosure on the migration from paypal and a direct deposit form to fill out via the internet

I actually have a personal friend that was participating with an ad netowrk for months and never turned in a w-9 which was the reason his payments were held -- he looked in his spam and there were over 10 requests for that information -- too crazy -- reason that im telling this story is that sometimes your problem could be isolated to a few instance (and in the case of adgroups its them migrating away from paypal)

At the end of the day id never vent my fustrations on a 3rd party website about another company (and if i did - it sure wouldnt be anonymous) -- gets you no where

So far so good for us since switching to direct deposit and the really nice campaigns keep on coming in

What the above poster said is meaningless and should not be given any weight. Fact is I haven't been paid now in four months and and many others haven't been paid either. MrMecca has a happy tale to tell because his money shows up while for many other publishers the money never shows up at all. We all know certain sites are treated better, paid on time and offered the option of direct deposit. How many of you Adgroups publishers have been given this option? Few I would guess. It is for the elite publishers. As I said and will continue to repost every time one of them Adgroup employees show up here; this company is a fraud and a scam. Just two weeks ago I emailed and asked about my payment and was told it would be sent out that night. It hasn't shown up yet and that was two weeks ago. I emailed them twice after that and got no response at all.

The jig is up and sending the employees in who also have sites participating in the network to post great stories will not fool anyone. Myself and other publishers have contacted Adgroups and gotten nothing but lies. MrMecca (an employee and friend of Adgrpoups owner) gets his payment on time because he is a part of the inner circle. How many of you publisher's have seen urbanmecca.com loading in the status bar of your sites. I have a million times and asked about it and got no answer.

MrMecca and several other Adgroup employees are sent here to pull the wool over the eyes of black publishers. They are here to interfere with the normal flow of conversation so we can never know what is going on with the network and what experiences other publishers are having. Nothing they say is to be believed.

It sounds like you need to give them a call if you havent been paid in 4 months (since feb...really?)

I dont work for AdGroups -- been a publisher with them for 11 years now though and I have developed a relationship with some of their senior staff over the years who have given me stellar advice on growing my company.

They're really a nice group of people (black owned company too) and i just dont want them to be villified. They're not gangsters, thugs, -- there is nothing sinister happening. This sh*t is too funny. There is probably an easily solved reason if you just give them a call and have someone to look into your account

The direct deposit program started literally 3 weeks ago (i did say last month didnt i? --too funny how you paint things)-- so there is another error and talking out of the side of your neck

I dont rep the company so i cant speak to whats going on with your account but you should holla at them (AIM: adgroups or contact their standard support channel and re-post what you get from them)

Only time ive heard a publisher not getting paid from a network
- proper paperwork not filed (i discovered that the hard way with my google account by not having tax info filled out -- i was mad but it was my fault)
- lower traffic than they think and not meeting the threshold each time a payment goes out can happen with any network

If you want to PM me your website -- I can give someone over there a call on your behalf. I have the owners cell and can even get back to you tonight on that. They are beyond helpful over there

Just trying to help -- posting rants really doesnt help your issue does it?

Hello MrMecca,

So nice of you to continue to defend Adgroups... Since you seem to know them real well, do get the owner to introduce himself here...

Also since u are a happy camper, why not invite a few Adgroups publishers who share your enjoyment... Yes is getting paid, and don't have to beg for their money...

In summary, glad to see interaction going on within this thread as to many black webmasters are being silent...
