Gorilla Nation Targeting Black Sites

Gorilla Nation is heavily looking to recruit Black sites. They have scored quite a few in the last few months. Does anyone here work with this company? How is the payout and do they require that you only run their ads?

I haven't applied or been approached but know a few who have and they always ask for exclusivity. Maybe not at the beginning but eventually that is what they are going to want.

Does anyone know what their cut is? I can't find that information on their site at all. I think the industry standard is 60/40 in favor of the webmaster.

Hi Everybody,

A few things about Gorilla Nation:

- they approach you and you have to have a certain amount of traffic and page views for them to approach you.

- not good for small publishers. If you have 40K unique visitors or less you they may not be a good fit for you.

- You are asked for exclusivity, but it's brand/advertisers exclusivity. Example: if they pitch you to Cover Girl - and you approve for them to do so, you will now be represented by them for the remaining of your contract. That means they will serve as your rep when talking to Cover Girl. So remember - every time they pitch you for a ad campaign and if you win or DON"T win the campaign - they not rep you for that brand.

- The split is 55/45 - meaning you get 55% and they get 45% - which is lower than most, but keep in mind they will make you work for this sometimes by doing "advertorials" "spokesblogging".

tip: pageviews are more important than unique visitors.

Are you presently with Gorilla Nation Dede and if so, are you pleased and would you recommend them to fellow webmasters here?

Yes, I am -- I have no feelings about them either way. They serve a purpose and brings me revenue, but I am not a fan of networks or online ad agencies.

I will say they do offer their publishers lots of opportunities for revenue -- meaning video platform and advertising (called Springboard), text ads (Vibrant ads) -- which help expand opportunities for potential advertisers. *please note a separate contract is implemented when you sign up for these as well.*

But, I recommend that these publishers take control of their own ad inventory - hence putting together a media kit with rates (cpm or flat) and approach brands on your own. But, this is smart for sites with a good amount of traffic.

I recommend going with AdBrite or some other ad exchange program for new publishers to help grow traffic and visibility - because that should be your main concern - cause the money will come when you get to a good amount of it.

I have heard a lot about Adbrite and have bumped into their ads, how do they work?

I understand it is very reasonable to advertise on them.

Hello Craig,

Well I have a friend who is working with Gorrila Nation now... Still she has yet to get any campaigns per say... Like many companies it will take some time... I do however see that SandraRose.com seems to have alot of exclusive campaigns so GN seems to be a winner...
